What is HypnoBirthing
The Mongan Method?

HynoBirthinⓇ is philosophy and a technique to assist in childbirth. It is a rewarding, relaxing, stress-free method of birthing that is based on the belief that all babies should come into the world gently, in an atmosphere of calm and joy. HypnoBirthingⓇ is based on the belief that severe discomfort does not need to be a natural accompaniment of birthing when a woman is prepared and trusts her birthing body.

"When you change the way you view birth,
the way you birth will change."

Marie Mongan

FAQ

How does HypnoBirthing work?

HypnoBirthing techniques involve learning to enter a state of deep relaxation, often referred to as self-hypnosis. Through relaxation exercises, visualization, and positive affirmations, expectant parents are able to release fear and tension, promoting a more comfortable birthing experience.

Are HypnoBirthing classes only for natural births?

HypnoBirthing can be beneficial regardless of your birth preferences. The techniques taught in HypnoBirthing classes can be used in various birth settings, including hospitals, home births and birth centers! Whether you choose to have a medicated or unmedicated birth, the relaxation and coping techniques can help you stay calm and centered.

Can partners participate in HypnoBirthing classes?

Absolutely! The HypnoBirthing Institute encourages partners to actively participate in the birthing process. Partners are taught how to provide support, create a peaceful environment, and utilize relaxation techniques during labor. This involvement helps deepen the bond between partners and enhances their shared experience.

When should I start attending HypnoBirthing classes?

It is generally recommended to start attending HypnoBirthing classes between 25 and 30 weeks of pregnancy. This allows enough time to practice and internalize the techniques before the birth. However, if you discover HypnoBirthing later in your pregnancy, don't worry; it's never too late to start learning and practicing the techniques.

Can HypnoBirthing guarantee a pain-free birth?

While HypnoBirthing can significantly reduce the perception of pain and discomfort during childbirth, it does not promise a completely pain-free experience. Every birth is unique, and individual experiences may vary. However, women who utilize HypnoBirthing report feeling more in control, relaxed, and at ease during labor and birth.

Is HypnoBirthing safe for both mother and baby?

Yes, HypnoBirthing is safe for both mother and baby. The techniques taught in HypnoBirthing classes are based on deep relaxation and breathing exercises that promote a calm and peaceful birthing environment. These techniques help reduce stress, increase oxygen flow, and create a positive atmosphere for both the mother and baby.
